"Shall we order dessert?"
"No thanks… i’m stuffed.
Now when I wake up
I wiggles my toes and say “thank you”
Now when I look in the mirror
I grin and say “thank you”
Now when I dance my skinny jeans on
I say “thank you”
Thank you to my body for taking me
to see sunsets bursting with beauty
and filling my lungs with bon fire smoke
surrounded by the people I love
Thank you for the feeling of a warm hug
and for lips to plant kisses
and fingers to write passionate words
Most of all, thank you for
forcing me to not give up
even when I most wanted to.
Your radiant beauty
is more than my eyes can take.
You are pulsing, electric, live
If I get too close
I might lose the ability to feel at all
Dear, that is a risk
I am more than willing to take.
Some nights, your light is blinding
And I must close my eyes to appreciate
the gentle curve of your kindness
The peaks and dips of your passion
And the constant rise and fall
of your adventuring soul.
While it is difficult to stare directly into your light
I am never afraid.
Many people hate the rain
The clouds releasing
Everything they have upon the earth
I suppose can be rather depressing.
However, I love the rain.
I sprint out into the world
And I join in chorus with the clouds
I scream and I beat my chest
The anger, frustration, fear and grief
pours out frist in furious torrents
and then in a quiet, gentle mist.
The sun hesitantly peaks out
As I will my heart to stop hammering
I have never felt more blissfully human.
